Midsommer

There's an awful lot of murders in Midsomer considering only 4 men and a goat live there. Clearly they've had to look for more unsuspecting victims and visited Hemel last Sunday - just outside Silver Towers.

"Just need to change this wrench…" murder looks like the least of John Nettle's problems.

Don't look at the three folk strolling in the sunshine, look at the monster sized window graphic, screaming Edexcel's FLT snapped by Fran (who was luckily armed with the corporate camera, gorgeous designer handbag, a latte, several notebooks and a spare pair of shoes) en-route to a meeting in London.

We created this new brand for client Edexcel which was recently launched together with a nifty digital package – that just sounds so wrong… so to be more specific…We worked very closely with Edexcel to give them a concept which would work across a number of media and digital tools.

It's all part of the 14 – 19 VQ (Vocational Qualifications) Reform Programme. The FLT will help learners aged 14 + maximise their potential – especially those who might fall off the radar in more traditional qualification structures.

Well Snapped Fran!

We are undertaking a series of digital social experiments to see how effective digital platforms can be at bringing consumers together, without using any other media. The Good Life… is a movement created to discuss, produce, share and enjoy music. We held this first party recently and using only Facebook, mobile and email we secured the DJ services of dance legends Rocky from X-press 2  (pictured above with our creative director Terry watching the mix!) and Terry Farley from Faith/Boys Own. We hired a venue in Buckinghamshire, marketed the event, secured national media coverage and had over 250 people attend. All this achieved using only digital and not one actual conversation!

We even got voted one of the top 5 parties in London and South East in iDJ Magazine :=)

We will continue to experiment with digital services to see how far they can be taken with effective consumer engagement.

Indulge us! we've gone all deep and meaningful here. The reason?, an agency review meeting yesterday called by Creative Director Terry to discuss our new strapline "A creative agency in a digital world" which will help define our existing and new skills base on lots of levels.

Anyway…Team SC all love it but it got this blogger thinking about creativity and how we can all be co-creators for everything that happens to us. We forget this because we are often hijacked by the fast techno-pace of life we all live.

So to slow you all down and put you in touch with your co-creative side to help tackle the ever growing media landscape try this… Look around you, what do you see? (really see) do you see order or disorder? are you looking at how you feel? Who energises you? who robs you of energy (be tactful here!). Remember, the world is in you, you are not in the world.

Right nuff of that, off your rugs and stand by your desks :-)

Sophie’s choice

Sophie Buckle, who's been doing a fine job on work placement with us, along side our other creative super-stars in the studio, has now joined Silver Chair on a permanent basis.

Sophie has been showing us what she's made of whilst studying for her Graphic Design Degree and was officially offered her full time job last week.

Her work successfully entered the finals of the D&AD Student Awards 2009 in the Graphic Design direct mail category. It's great to have a feminine touch in the studio here to balance out all that testosterone. Well done Sophie.

 Terry and Paul McC

When Creative Director, Terry returned from his Meat Free Monday client meeting recently and told us he'd been singing with Paul McCartney we honestly thought he'd spent too long in the sun.

That was until we had the proof. Terry, (sitting directly next to PMcC) seems to be quite at home, in an awkward, self conscious, musical sort of way. Apparently he sings like an angel ;-)  take a look at the full video by clicking here

We adore webinars at SC – it's an amazing way to feel part of a global virtual classroom, expand skills bases and share and absorb information – does anybody remember the good old days though?

This blogger recently made contact with a journalist colleague (also an experienced conferencer) located many miles away to re-create the joys of old-style conferencing on line. To fully recreate the ambiance we synchronised comfort breaks and coffee, we laid out nice note pads to doodle on and "sucky-sweets" to stop us nodding off. The web-cam focussed break out area – the garden, looked just like a hotel lawn (not). We also re-enacted the very awkward few moments at the end when we all used to look for another lost soul with whom to pass polite conversation/talk about one's dog/family/M25/weeks it took us to get to or find the location.

Thinking about it – webinars rule OK…

Hain top 10 green

Hain (who we work with on the Linda McCartney Foods business) have just been voted the 10th best green business in the UK – hooray! One statistic that even wowed us was their 90% water recycling rate! For the full artcile >Click here.

Up and coming London DJ Elliot Wrights rather smooth deep house number "What is this?" has the office ggrooving ;-)

We are very happy to hear our client Checkmate Mortgages news blog received much deserved praise from the Market Watch section of Mortgage Strategy "One of the most interesting websites of the moment" :-)
